Deb shared on her neighborhood listserv that we were collecting items to make Covid kits for those newly diagnosed: digital thermometers, face masks, soap, hand sanitizer, etc-- 12 items in all. She suggested that neighbors organize by the dozen, each buying several of one item to share the expense and effort. Neighbors of Buckboard Court heeded the call; Debra rallied her neighbors and Buckboard was booming with kindness. Soon, book clubs, bunco groups, other neighborhood streets joined the fun – in a bit of friendly, neighborly competition. Friends decided in lieu of traditional end-of-year gift exchanges they’d rather purchase cases of Ensure, boxes of pulse oximeters, and tons of toilet paper. We delivered a trunk full of Covid kit supplies to the Collection Hub this week -- where they were down to their last four kits, with people continuing to be diagnosed daily. No doubt Mr. Rogers, of the neighborhood, is smiling down on the neighbors of Buckboard Court. πŸ™‚
