Delivering food to homebound families

One of the many needs right now is to get food, toiletries, health supplies and other essentials to homebound families. KindWorks’ volunteer Ben, a recent college graduate, has been driving supplies to those in need for several months – first, produce we had gathered from community gardens, and now groceries and essentials to families afflicted with Covid. He picks up the boxes at the Consolidation Hub, loads his car, inputs addresses into GPS, puts his music on, and drives for several hours dropping off food at various apartments, all contactless. When I ask him why he does this several times a week, he says, “It makes people happy. And it keeps myself calm.” There’s a need for people like Ben in all our communities, please see how you may be able to drive food and meals to those in need. If you’d like to help through KindWorks, the Consolidation Hub in Germantown and Silver Spring desperately need drivers; all the info is on our website (www.dokindworks.org). It always amazes me how much GOOD can happen, if we each do just a little bit. PS: We dropped off toothpaste, laundry detergent, feminine hygiene products – and our homemade squash soups - at the Consolidation Hub in Germantown today. It was packed in boxes, ready for Ben and others to deliver.
