Day 11: Moon and Star Cookies
Guest bloggers: Azraf Khan and Zayd AliRamadan = Moon and Star Cookies. This has been true for as long as we can remember. Every year during Ramadan, we make moon and star shaped sugar cookies with our moms and big sisters. No matter how busy we are – we all make time for this tradition. We decorate the cookies with green and white icing and sprinkles, because green and white are the colors of Ramadan and Eid. And we share them with friends at school, with our neighbors, and with our families. To us, every part of Ramadan can be found in these cookies. The love that is such a big part of Ramadan is what we feel as we work together and talk to our families while making the cookies. The tradition of fasting and observing Ramadan is like our tradition of making these cookies every year. And our cookies are delicious, and delicious food is a big part of Ramadan! This tradition is something that really makes Ramadan for us. Ramadan would not be the same if we did not make these delicious treats to share. Sharing these cookies and our holiday with friends and family makes us proud.Day 11, Tradition 11: Baking Moon and Star Cookies
