Day 10: Life of purpose

July 18 is known as Mandela Day – a celebration of Mandela’s compassion, moral courage and selfless commitment to the greater good.  On this day, we’re asked to commit 67 minutes to doing something good for others - one minute for every year of Madiba’s fight for justice.  The idea is that each one of us can do something to impact the life of someone else, and collectively that can make a huge difference.I sorted out shalwar kameezes to donate to the masjid, and collected schools supplies for MoverMoms' service trip to El Salvador; Saanya wrote her Ramadan letter to raise funds for PEH; and Zayd signed a petition to save bees in the US.  We didn’t change the world; it’s all about the drops in the bucket.I am always in awe of people who commit their lives to impact the lives of others. The Mandelas and Edhis and Maathais of the world.  I love to read their stories, imbibe their sense of purpose.  My life’s passion is to be able to meet them and write about their journeys; but more than anything to be inspired by them to live a life that has meaning for others.Day 10, Dua 10: Living a life of purpose
