Refugees, a poem
I came across the poem 'Refugees' by Brian Bilston a few days ago and was deeply moved. It challenges our perceptions, questions the way we see things. The poem is read two ways, with two very different meanings. I thought it would be perfect to use in some way for this project, so I reached out to Brian, a renowned poet, on his public Facebook page explaining the '30 days 30 deeds' blog and this particular effort to share the personal stories of refugees. To be honest, I didn't expect to hear back. But within an hour, Brian responded saying 'it would be an honor' to have his poem be a part of this project.George put together this video beautifully using Saanya's amazing photographs. I shared it with Brian this afternoon; he loved it. I'm excited to share it with all of you, and I hope you'll share it with your networks. After all, it's all about how we 'see' each other and the world. And it's through art, poetry, stories, and photos that we can challenge, change and shape our views.
